Virtual Town Hall: Mission Bay School Access Plan

San Francisco County Transportation Authority (SFCTA) invites all community members to attend this event where David Long, the SFCTA project lead for the Mission Bay School Access Plan, will share draft concepts that address key barriers to accessing the new Mission Bay School via active transportation.

Join the Town Hall to share your thoughts about draft concepts for:
-Preliminary barriers near the new Mission Bay School
-Alternatives for the roundabout, Mission Bay Blvd North-South, and Seventh Street
-Additional mid-term concepts for future consideration

Quick Recap – SFCTA staff have spent the past year studying how to make getting to school in Mission Bay safe for various modes of travel. They hosted an in-person community workshop in the Mission Creek Park Pavillion in the spring of 2024 and conducted an online survey of area residents; identified three key barriers to safely accessing the school; and have worked with San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA), San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD), and Dept. of Public Works (DPW) to put together proposals to address safety issues at those critical junctures.

A walk audit conducted by neighborhood volunteers in collaboration with the nonprofit WalkSF last November also supplied data for this study.

This community-wide Town Hall aims to gather input from Mission Bay residents and employees on potential road, bike lane, and sidewalk redesigns in three significant areas near the future Mission Bay School.

The three key areas that need attention are 1) the Mission Bay Circle that sits at the northwest tip of the school site; 2) the Mission Bay Boulevard North – South couplet that run east-west on either side of park spaces; and 3) the crossing between Seventh Street and Mission Bay Drive, which also affects motorists trying to access Berry Street at the Caltrain crossing. The draft includes alternative proposals for the traffic circle and Mission Bay Blvd. N and S., and cost estimates for each alternative. Town Hall details and the meeting link are in the calendar.
Whether you walk, ride, or drive, you’ll want to hear what’s being proposed and what neighbors say.
